West Gorton, Scottish holiday cottage near Grantown on Spey, in the Scottish Highlands, is the perfect quiet cottage for 'getting away from it all' in this small, very comfortable cottage in a remote position in the hills and open countryside (about 2½ miles from Grantown on Spey itself). The cottage is reached by a good private road through woodland and open moorland to the cottage. In all directions can be seen views of open hills and the Cairngorm mountains in the far distance. Completely renovated in 1996, it features a very attractive open plan living room with the original stone walls, hardwood floor, tartan curtains, and sofas cosily positioned around a large stone built open fire (logs provided), colour television. £235-£385 per week book now>

Stunning Highland Holiday Location in Scotland

Grantown is a small attractive town with a good selection of shops, hotels and pubs. It has an 18 hole golf course and a 9 hole course. Further north on the Moray Coast - about 35 minutes drive - there is a championship course at Royal Nairn and 5 other 18 hole courses to try out. There are extensive sandy beaches and water sports to enjoy between Nairn and Lossiemouth to the north. This beautiful area of Speyside is an excellent base for touring this scenic area. Enjoy the local historic Castles or take in the magnificent scenery by hill walking, climbing, pony trekking, fishing or golf. The whole family will enjoy the Landmark centre at Carrbridge with its dramatic slides and tree top nature walks. We offer a free round of golf on Craggan Golf Course for one person each week, we also have archery, fishing, falconry on the estate.

Re. disabled access West Gorton has a downstairs WC but no bath NB. A cot is available on request as is a sofa bed

Directions

From south. Take A9 and turn off first junction north of Aviemore, marked Grantown on Spey. Follow A95 north to Grantown on Spey. In Grantown follow up main street, turn left after Post Office, up Seafield Avenue to end and at caravan site take little road under railway bridge winding up steep hill. Dreggie is first house on left. For West Gorton, take left fork at Dreggie, continue down track for 1¼ miles, through gate (please leave as you find it) and West Gorton is cottage on your right.
